Bighorn sheep are named for the large, curved horns of the rams. They can range in color from light brown to grayish or dark brown. Males can weigh between 128 – 315 lbs. They could be 35" – 41" tall at the shoulder, and 63" – 73" from the nose to the tail. Bighorns from the Rocky Mountains can exceed 500 lbs. Bighorns from the Sierras may only weigh up to 200 lbs. Horns can weigh up to 30 lbs.
